Megan Whittington

Autobiography

I am an animation and art student at Bowie High School, currently enrolled in Advanced Animation III and AP Studio.  I am very interested in painting, digital art, 2D animation, and 3D animation.  I am skilled in many visual software tools such as Photoshop, Flash, After Effects, Maya, and Blender.  I am experienced with Mac, PC, and Linux and have basic programming skills.

Animation to me is a form of self-expression and is something that really speaks to me as an artist.  Animation makes art, characters, and scenes come to life and the whole process absolutely fascinates me.

I was born and raised in Austin, TX surrounded with a very tech savvy family and early on was taught programming from my father.  I have always had a fascination with the visual arts and by the age of three I already was begging my parents for art supplies.

I have many other interests besides visual arts, and collect many hobbies.  Marching band takes up a lot of my free time but teaches me many valuable skills such as time management, efficiency, and teamwork.  I also enjoy writing, reading, and crafting in my free times. One of my main passions is costume design and making.  I get commissioned by people to design and create costumes for them, and I work as an intern doing stage and concert lighting for LHC Tech.

For the future, I plan to get a Bachelor’s in studio art at Texas State and get my teacher's certification so I can be a high school art teacher.
